Adoption Process
- All potential adopters must complete and submit a FURS Application. This can be completed at our adoption stand on Saturdays or submitted online through our website (Please note: when filling out the on line application, the "Tab" key moves you from question to question. At the end of the application there is a "Submit" button - click on this to submit your application).
- Each submitted application will be reviewed by a FURS representative. If the applicant owns, or has previously owned, a pet then a veterinarian reference must be given along with two personal references.
- If an application is approved, a home visit will be scheduled to bring the FURS dog to the applicant’s home to meet any other family members or current pets.
- If the home is approved, FURS offers a behavioral training session on Friday evenings. After the session, the adopter will complete the FURS contract and take their FURS dog home.
- There is a $100 adoption fee which will be held for at least the first week to ensure that the adoption is going to work out.
- If at any time an adopter cannot keep the dog they adopted from FURS, they are obligated to return it to FURS.
